Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employee Rights

Hi,

Yesterday I came into work for my normal shift. When I got to work the power was out, so my employer sent all of us home. I am a salery employee. When we came in the next day my boss told us that we either have to come in on Sat. to make up our time or take a vacation day or just don't get paid for a day. I don't think that it is fair because I drove 60mi round trip for him to send us home! What should I do?

Re: Employee Rights

As a salaried employee you should not have to make up days -- the boss requiring you to do that is treating you as an hourly employee -- do you work overtime? You may be entitled to be paid for overtime work, even though you are classified as salaried.
