Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employee Vehicle Searches

Is it legal for an employer to stop and search your vehicle as you are leaving their property? The security guards at our company stop cars at random as they leave the premises, log the employee name, vehicle make and model and license plate number, then ask to look inside the vehicle's trunk. Can they do this?
