Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employer Breach of Confidentiality of Reference Discussion

I gave my honest opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of a person who listed me as a reference for their future supervisor to contact. The supervisor hired the person and then later told them about my negative opinions of them in some aspects of business.

This has caused the person listing me as a reference to become very angry with me and to harm my reputation by telling many people that I said some negative things to the supervisor.

Do I have any recourse against the supervisor who breached the confidentiality of the interview?
