Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can employer change working days to include weekends?

I used to work a regular 9-5 job mon-fri. Now my boss demands that we'll do shifts on weekends. This means I'll need to work sat-sun once every month. I will get 2 vacation days instead of the weekend days. I'm not willing to work weekends.

Can my employer fire me? Is it legal to demand working on weekends on a regular basis when this wasn't defined in the original contract?

Re: Can employer change working days to include weekends?

Yes, it is legal to require employees to work weekends. Work schedules are subject to change, depending upon the needs of the company. What they cannot do is make you work 7 days a week straight, unless it is absolutely necessary.
