Can an employer deduct salary for a partial absence (less than 4 hours) for an exempt employee during their 90-day probationary period when they are not yet eligible to accrue PTO?
It was to care for a RDP who has a terminal illness.

No. One of the requirements for exempt status is that pay is in minimum one day units. It can be tracked in hours, but must be paid in full days regardless of how many hours worked.
