Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can my employer force me to go home early when i'm scheduled to work for 8 hours

I work at a hotel and I was hired as a full time employee. In this buisness there are many occasions when it becomes slow unexpectadly. My employers force people to go home early though they were scheduled for eight hours. I know they can ask, but they threaten to fire us if we do not comply and go home. Also, is there a minimum amount of hours that our employers have to work us if we are full time ( I think it is 32 hours but I'm not sure? I would appreciate a response I need to know if I have legal grounds to refuse to go home early so I can get paid. Thank you for your time!

Section 5a of the IWC's wage orders says that when employees report to work on a scheduled workday, employers must provide them with at least half their regular day's work (or two hours work, whichever is greater) or pay them a show up premium. Thus, there may be a premium due when a

hostess is sent home after 30 minutes.

Unless you have a collective bargaining agreement covering your wages, hours and working conditions, your employer has the right to adjust your work schedule at any time to reduce your work hours.
