employer forces me to quit after I suffered work related injury

while running an errand, for my employer,I was in a car accident, which has kept me off work. I told him at our last meeting that I would be out longer than expected. his response was he would have to ''move on'' and hire someone else. now he has sent me a letter, thanking me for quitting my job, sending me a final check, and a partial check for my next quarters health care,which was due before he decided to ''move on''. do I have any recourse?

Yes. You have a Workers Compensation claim for your injuries sustained while you were working. You can make the claim yourself or hire a competant Workers Comp lawyer to handle it for you.

If you have not already done so, you should file a workers' compensation claim so that you receive disability benefits and medical treatment for your injury. You also have a potential Labor Code Section 132a claim because it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against you because of your work injury. You should contact a Workers' Compensation attorney in your area.
