Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My employer informed me that they have been incorrectlly calculationg my sales commission for the last 4 months and want me to pay back $4000.00. I inderstand and agree that they made an error, but to pay back $4000.00 is a burden. Do I have any recourse in this matter?

If you agree that you received money you did not earn, your recourse is to make a proposal you both can live with to pay the money back. The employer cannot help itself by deducting the money without your authorization, but it will expect you to pay it back somehow, so make a realistic proposal for a payment plan.
