Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My former employer laid me off last week, and they automatically deposited a paycheck into my account. Do I have to pay it back, if I have nothing in writing, nor a contract.

You should be paid for the time you worked, not the time you didn't work. You might call your former employer's payroll department to determine whether you received severance pay. If not, then the money was sent to you by mistake.
