Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employer Liability

It is freezing on our office (which is connected to a warehouse). My boss just told me that he is not legally responsible for providing heat. Is this true?

Re: Employer Liability

Employers are required to provide a safe work environment. If you believe the temperature in the office is unreasonably cold and unhealthful, contact the California Occupational Safety and Health Agency (CAL OSHA). You can make an anonymous complaint which they can investigate and require the employer to take corrective measures if you are correct.

It is illegal for an employer to retaliate against employees who complain to CAL OSHA.
