Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Is an employer liable for replacing stolen tools from the workplace.
The repair business my friend works for was burglarized. All the tools he used for motor home repair were stolen. They were his tools. They were not provided by business. Is the business liable to replace almost $4,000.00 in tools for the employee?

Probably not, unless your friend can prove it was reasonaby forseeable that the tools were at risk of being stolen and the employer was negligent in allowing them to be stolen. Your friend should inquire about an insurance policy that covers theft from the premises.
