Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employer lied about resignation

I am on leave of absence from my job this time. I have a letter from my employer stating that my leave is effective until May 15, 2002. Recently during an employee meeting, my employer announced that I had resigned my position with the company. This is completely untrue and when I asked my employer why the announcement was made, she stated that she meant to say that she asked me to resign. I feel deceived by my employer and feel that my privacy has been violated. Frankly, given the unprofessional conduct of this employer I am wiling to quit, however, I feel under the circumstances, I should be entitled to some compensation for the loss of my income (I am on paid leave) and the loss of my benefits. Is this a reasonable request?

Re: Employer lied about resignation

No it is not. they did nothing illegal. They are probably obligated to pay you through the leave they already agreed to but nothing more.
