Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Can my employer make me work 40hrs/wk without benefits?
I was hired 7 months ago as a "temporary employee" and became a "regular employee" shortly after. From day one (in writing only), I wasn't "guarranteed" or "required" to work more than 0 (zero) hrs/wk. I'm not considered part-time or even full-time. However, I have been scheduled to work 40 hrs/wk w/ optional O.T. since the beginning of my temporary employment. If I ask for less hours, I won't get them. The full-time and part-time employees in my office get medical benefits eventhough we all do the same job. Aren't CA businesses supposed to provide medical benefits for employees who work 40hrs/ wk?

Employers in California are not required to provide benefits to anybody.
