Legal Question in Employment Law in California

my employer overpaid me my last pay check..i work on a comission basis..i was unaware of the fact that they over paid me until i recieved my next months wash comision check..and they had deducted over a thousand dollars without any notice or explanation..i live in california..is it legal for them to take my money for there mistake without any notice..please help

No, it is not. But, if they really did overpay you, you would have to pay the money back. It should have been done by agreement.
