Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Employer owes back wages uncollected
Employer owes me approximately $3,500.00 in wages for work at three different location (3 separate contracts-verbal).
Will I be able to submit mechanics lien on each of these 3 jobs, and is that lien filed against my employer or against owner of site at which work was performed?
Do I file small claims suit?
Is there any real chance of recovering these wages owed?

Re: Employer owes back wages uncollected
Before filing a small claims action, you should file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner. You should go to the nearest office to your home. Th Labor Commissioner should be able to collect it for you if you have a good claim. It is the State agency responsible for making sure employers don't cheat their workers. It is also known as the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement.
