Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Can an employer refuse to accept a doctor's note to excuse a missed day? My place of work does not except doctor's notes to excuse days missed even if it was for a legitimate medical reason. Can they do that?

Generally, it's a bad practice by the employer to count as unexcused absences, those absences which are caused by medical condition. Depending upon whether you are a qualified employee, the the company is a qualified employee, this might be considered disriminatory or retaliatory if the employer takes adverse action against you, such as suspension, demotion, leave or termination.
