Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My employer withheld my wages for nine months and when I began sending registered letters requesting that all money owed be paid to me immediately, my employer began writing me checks. It took over five more months to finally get paid all the back wages. I feel I am entitled to interest for all the months the employer withheld my wages. What can I do to retrieve interest? I have sent several letters registered mail and I get absolutely nowhere when I request, in person, compensation for the nine plus months I was not paid. Thank you for your input.

You might discuss this with the State Labor Commissioner's office. You can get information about filing a wage claim at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/HowToFileWageClaim.htm.
