My employer's dental office had been closed for business for two weeks now due to water damage (sewer backflow) Under california labor law, are the employees, hourly-based and salary-based, entitled to have compensation for the two or more weeks that the office had been closed?

Employers are not legally required to pay employees for time not worked. If you have any accrued vacation time, you may be able to use that. You may also check with the Employment Development Dept. to see if you are eligible for unemployment compensation for the time you were off.
