Legal Question in Employment Law in California

can employers force a six day/10hr per day week

My wife is a store manager of a large retail chain in California. She currently is required to work 5 days a week for 10 hrs per day. It rumoured that the company may be soon requiring managers to work a 6 day/10hrs. per day work week.

Is this legal for them to do this? They believe it is because the managers are paid on a salary basis.

Thank you for taking the time to read my Question.

Sincerely,

a concerned husband

Re: can employers force extra hours in the week.

An employee employed in a management position and clearly performing management duties for more than half their workday, may be required to work any number of hours each workweek, without any additional compensation.
