Can employers threaten to fire all of its temporary workers, because some (but not all) employees seem to be slacking off?

California ils an at will state as to employment. Unless you have a contract covering your employment, are a union member with an MOU that covers the issue of termination, or work for a governmental agency under civil service protection, an employer can fire anyone at any time without giving a reason [except if illegal discrimination].
