Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I have an employment agreement with a company physically located in Puerto Rico. I live in California. The company is in breach of the agreement and refuses to acknowledge my requests to address the breach, I want to file suit against the company. Do I file in California or Puerto Rico?

Jurisdiction is a tricky issue. You PROBABLY have jurisdiction in CA, but it would take more information to be sure. You certainly have jurisdiction in PR. Unless the company has assets in CA, though, even if you win a case in CA you will have to have it enforced in the PR courts. So if you have the ability to do so, it may be better just to do the whole thing in PR.
