Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employment Applications

After being employed at my company for three years, they are now asking me to complete a rather extensive employment application which contains a release for obtaining a credit report

as well as background check etc. Is this legal given I am already employed by the company and not really a new applicant?

Re: Employment Applications

Yes, if they secure your permission before running the background checks. There are certain procedures that the employer must follow before running the checks and you are entitled to a copy of the reports that they run as well.

Good Luck!
