Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Equal pay for Equal Work
I am a employee of an educational institution. I have been employeed there for over ten years. About three years ago my employer felt a need to remove me from a position that I held for approximately seven years to a position which I now hold that requires me to have a extensive knowledge of computer software & hardware. It has also been my duty to provide software training and give direction on computer software usage to company employees. The company has not given or provided me with any trainging for this job. I have asked to be compensated for the duties I have been performing which are the same a those of my male counter parts. I was given an increase but less than that of my male counter parts or others not of the same ethnic background. I feel that I have been and am being treated unfairly.
My question to you is, do Am I just dreaming, or is there merit to this situation. Let me know the real facts.
Thank you for you time and efforts

Re: Equal pay for Equal Work
Payment of a lesser wage to an employee because of their sex is unlawful. You may also have a claim for discrimination based upon race.
