Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Executed release at discharge with receipt of severance pay without resolution o

When discharged on 10/15/01,I was offered severance pay in exchange for my signature on a release document(by 11/5/01) that prohibits me from pursuing any actions against my former employer. At the time of my discharge, there were outstanding reimbursements that included mileage reimbursements. The discussion of mileage reimbursement has be ongoing since my hire in 1998 and seems to a very sensitive subject. The car usage can not be disputed as my job responsibilities included processing plans and permits at various agencies and eventually project managing job sites in the Inland area. I have provided them with everything they have asked for to the best of my abilities even though when I was laid off I was not given much time to retreive personal records. I have only 7 days left to resolve this issue and I have not been able to get a answer from my former employer if they are foing to approve the reimbursement. Any advise?

It is hard to advise you without seeing the release but my guess is the release will end your mileage claim.
