Legal Question in Employment Law in California
When to expect my final check after quitting a job.
I quit my job at a non-profit residential for the mentally ill on February 21, 2000. A friend told me that in California, employers are required to send my check to me within 48 hours of termination. Whether or not this is true, what should I do if I do not receive my final check in a reasonable amount of time?

Re: When to expect my final check after quitting a job.
If you quit your job and gave at least 72 hours notice, you would be entitled to payment of all accrued wages immediately. If you didn't give your employer notice of your intention to quit, your employer must be you not later than 72 hours after you quit.
If you did not receive your pay within the appropriate time you are entitled to a penalty payment of your daily rate of pay for up to thirty (30) days or until you receive your pay, which ever comes first.
