Legal Question in Employment Law in California

False Advertisement for employment

Last week I had an interview for a job i saw in an ad. The ad stated that no experience was necessary. Since I was already state certified for the position I thought I would have high chances of getting the job than someone who had no knowledge of the job at all. Well during the interview the employer said I scored well on the test they gave me, above average. But when he saw name of the school I went to he started to make excuses why I wasn't quailfied. And then said i didn't have enough experience for the job. That's when I told him that his ad said that their was no experience necessary. He replied, ''Oh, we need to change the ad!'' Come to find out the real reason he didn't want to give me the job was because my teacher used to be his superviser and I guess he still had a grudge against het that he took out on me. Do you think I have case in this situation?

Re: False Advertisement for employment

No. Employers are permitted to pick and choose for any reason, except illegal reasons. Maybe your mutual teacher should apply. He/she certainly would have the experience.
