We have a hospitality family owned business. Can friends and

family members work in our business without pay or

compensation?

The wage and hour laws generally apply to every person performing labor on behalf of another person. This includes minimum wages and overtime regulations. Exceptions exist for family members (spouse and children), friends are not exemted.
