Can I file for unemployment if my industry has changed and can no longer pay my bills as a result of my employer deducting 25% less commission to keep the company afloat ?

If you are asking can you collect unemployment benefits if you quit your job due to a cut in your income, it will be difficult. You must show you quit for good cause, but a cut in pay is not easily recognized as good cause because the EDD will look at it as a matter of it being better to have a job than no job at all. The benefits you receive from EDD will probably be less than you are getting from your job.

Go to the website for the Employment Development Dept. and look up their precedent decisions to get an idea on how they have ruled in comparable situations.
