Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was fired, for what?
I was fired from my job a few days ago. I never knew it was coming. I had over 90 day (probation period)and they fired me with no explination or documentation. Do I have any rights?

Re: I was fired, for what?
The law presumes that employees without a contract for employment for a specific period of time are at-will, meaning they can be fired for a good reason (e.g. non-performance) or no reason (e.g. socks not matching). Employees cannot be fired, however, for a illegal reason such as discrimination based upon characteristics such as disability, race, gender, or for a reason that violates public policy such as whistle-blowing or exercising a statutory right. If you believe that you were terminated in violation of one of these latter reasons, please feel free to contact me at 805/641-6600.
