Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Firing an employee

Can you fire an employee without

giving them severance pay? If I called a

manager a ''liar'' when he was making

false statements, is that grounds for

termination?

Re: Firing an employee

Calling another employee a liar may be grounds for termination and, yes, you can terminate an employee without providing severance pay. All that is required is to pay the employee earned pay and vacation at the date of discharge.
