Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Firing/Lay Off with out cause or explanation

Is this a free service or how do you charge? I know an employer can fire without giving a reason. What about lay off and are they required to give you a return date and how does this affect unemployment? Is there any law regarding seniority in these matters? This employer has a history of letting people go when they give notice for another job, not paying on time and many other things. What are my rights to request documentation in my employee file? What if something is just not true.

Re: Firing/Lay Off with

They do not need to give you a reason or a return date nor must they take you back even if a job does open up. You are entitled to unemployment as long as you did not quit and you were not fired for misconduct. They will have to give a reason to unemployment only if they want to challenge your right to get $$. You have the right to view your employment file during business hours but dont have the right to a copy. There is no law regarding seniority
