Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can they do this?

I gave my two week notice yesterday to my employer which I was a full time employee for over 3 years - and they called me in the office today and fired me. Basically, they said thank you for the hard work, good luck and had my check waiting for me. My new job does not start for a month. I am frustrated and mad that I was considerate enough to give them notice - I should of just waited and quit a few days before my new job started. What legal re-course if any do I have?

Re: Can they do this?

If they fired you, file for unemployment. No other recourse. They did what most employers would do these days. Not actionable.
