Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Guarantee Broken

My company guaranteed me $5500 per month in October 2008 which was said to be until Oct 2009 but in April 2009 I was told that they were no longer able to honor the agreement. I don't have a written contract but I do have a letter signed by the owner of the company. Do I have a case?

Re: Guarantee Broken

It sounds like you were promised a monthly salary of $5,500. Companies may decrease the amount, but they must give notice of the decrease. If you worked during the time period and were not paid, it sounds like you have a claim for unpaid wages. Plus, depending on the type of work you did, you may have other wage related claims.
