Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Handbook Requirement

Can my employer require me to sign an employee handbook, presented to me 12 months into my employment, which contains terms that were not agreed upon prior to, or during the first 12 months of my hire. I am being threatened with termination, if I refuse to sign. Is this pressure legal, and can I be legally terminated if I refuse to sign?

Your help is greatly appreciated. It may not be possible for me to discuss this at work, if possible could you please email your response, and give a phone number that I can reach your office, at a time when I can talk.

Thank You,

Re: Handbook Requirement

Yes. Your employer can ask you to agree to company policies embodied in the employee handbook. Also, they can fire you for not complying.
