Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Harrassment
We work in a nation wide retail store selling major appliances. We have an ''UP'' system where we take turns helping customers and answering phones. It works great and runs smoothly. Our store manager doesn't want us to have this ''UP'' system, he said & I quote ''it's to weed out the weaker salespeople''. We see it as good customer service. He has given us a letter that he signed stating the first offence that person would be sent home, second offence that person would be fired. The note says that it's against company and district policy but when we called our headquarters, they said it was not, it's the store managers decision to have this. Can we be fired for this ?
