Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Hello,
I recently applied for a contract job (6 month contract) on corp-to-corp (my own corporation), took the drug test, background check and accepted the job offer verbally (without sigining any contract).
Due to family reasons, I turned down the job offer a week before the start date.
1. A month later I receive a bill for about hundred dollars for my drug test and background check. Is this legal for the employer to send me this bill though they have not informed me orally or in writing regarding these fees.
2. Can they legally sue me or my corporation for not taking the job though I accepted the offer verbally.
Thanks

You should be okay if there is no written agreement to pay.
