Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Hello,

I unfortunatly had to quit my job as an civilian contractor working in Iraq. The company was losing the contract and I was about to find myself unemployed, so I found another job and gave Olgoonic a 1 week notice(the new job needed me ASAP to get medical and dental done). The contract only had 3 weeks before myself and other employees were to lose our jobs. The company I was working for is based out of Alaska and I live in California. In California when you quit your job you get paid within 72hrs. Alaska, you get paid on next payroll cycle. Being I am an overseas contractor working for an Alaskian company and living in California and having California State taxes taken out of my check, when am I to recieve my final payroll check? The company says next payroll period. I thought it was suposed to be within a 72hr period. Can you please help. It will be a month before I get paid with new job and I am afraid my wife could be evicted from house she just moved in to.

Where you work governs what labor laws apply, not where you live or where your paycheck is delivered. So technically they could probably pay you under Iraqi labor law.
