Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Hi,

I have been working for a bakery for about 2 months now. When I started working for the bakery, I realized that I did not have to sign any papers....in another words...I am not on his payroll. He did say I would be working per hour and he told how much I would be making per hour. Last Thursday my boss asked me for the hours that I have been working since he wants to pay me. Last Friday my boss did not pay me. Today (Tuesday) I asked my boss if he has my pay ready for me or not. He said he forgot to give my hours to a girl. I asked him if my pay will be ready tomorrow? He said he hope so. When he told me this, I had a funny feeling inside of me that he wasn't being serious with me...like I was going to be rip off from him. On my last pay, he miscalculated my hours, and he shortchanged me by 6 hours. I bought this to his attention, and he apologized to me, and he gave me the correct amount. My question to you is...how can I get him to pay me since it has been 4 weeks since my last pay. And if he doesn't pay me, what can I do?
