Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Hostile Work Environment
I have a supervisor that pervasively berates me and/or my decisions, rolls her eyes at me in meetings, singles me out amongst the employees by making special notes of attendance for only myself, makes corrections to my time sheet, yells at me in the classroom and now has followed me down the hall to yell at me that I had better not try anything with her. She talks to others telling them she resents that I have control of the class when she doesn't and that my instructional control undermines her authority. I have repeatedly tried to approach her calmly to diffuse the situation, but her only reactions are volitile. I'd like to file a suit because I'm worried of my job and I'm just now taking time off to bond with my newborn. What should I do?

Re: Hostile Work Environment
If you believe there's discrimination because of family status, you might have a case. Otherwise, you might grieve the harassment through your union. If you don't have one, convince your co-workers to organize. If they don't want to do that, complain to human resources (or the central administration). If that doesn't work, you can file a worker's comp claim for stress.
