Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I got hurt on my job last Sunday went to the doctor immediately contact my employer with a off note excuse taking me off work for a week and they have since put me on-call with no hours went from 35.5 hours to nothing because I got hurt on their job is that legal to do in california.
