Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My husband is a 1099 employee for a company with approx. 50 employees. Ome of the Board of Director's daughters recently had a baby and is pumping her breast milk. My husband works in the computer department.
They told him she will be pumping hert milk in the computer department since the President of the company doesn't want to give up his private space. Isn't there a law that requires the company tho provide her with a quite area in the rest room. (Where no men would be allowed)? I find this very unaccectable. What can we do? Are't they violeting the law.

Cal. Labor Code 1030 et seq.(2001) provides that employers need to allow a break and provide a room for a mother who desires to express milk in private.
Cal. Civil Code 43.3(1997) allows a mother to breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present. (AB 157)
