Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My husband was terminated from his job of 26 years because he made a choice to use drugs that he now sorely regrets. He was denied unemployment benefits, appealed that decision, went befor a judge, she reccomended rehab that he willingly went into. This was a in house program. After completing this program he would have gotten a certificate that he was to return to the judge which would possibly release his benefits. Almost 2 weeks into the program he was approached with financial responcibiliy. The 60 day program would cost him $18,500 if he couldnt make the payments a lien would be put on our house. We are very close to losing our home so he was afraid to sign the papers and had to leave the program. He has no job has been living on what was his inheiritance from his parents which will be gone in about 6 weeks. He lost his job at the end of last August. I only have a small part time job that I make 40.00 a week cleaning house fgor a family friend. We both have health issues and a adult daughter that is visually impiaired. Please help. Cathy Botelho
