Legal Question in Employment Law in California

(Hypothetical) Two people are in a rowboat in the middle of Lake Tahoe. One murders the other and drops the gun in the boat and swims to shore. The boat is found and through fingerprints, the crime is solved. How is it determined which state (CA, NV) has jurisdiction? Where the boat was found may not be where the crime was committed, etc., but I am sure there must be rules that allow trial despite such niggling details. One could go further and say 1/2 of the boat was in each state.

I'm glad you specified it's hypothetical and has no basis in reality. I would say that it depends on the state in which the victim and suspect resided, from which state the boat was launched, and which jurisdiction has the resources and desire to prosecute.

I agree with Robert that it will probably be the state that the persons resided in and where the trip originated.
