There's no law specifically prohibiting the club manager from severing the contract with you if you do that. However, if there is a question as to whether you are properly classified as an independent contractor as opposed to an employee, the club manager's prohibition is strong evidence control supporting a mis-classification finding (the fact that you rent court time, however, supports your independent contractor designation).
