Involuntary unpaid leave
Can my employer force me to take an involuntary unpaid leave of absence?
Due to the unclear economic landscape, I have been informed that my employer is ''invoking'' a policy that all salaried employees must take one week of unpaid leave at the end of the year. There is no mention of this policy in either my empolyment agreement or our employee handbook. My agreement with my employer was for a certain amount of money per year, and this will result in a failure by my employer to meet their side of the agreement. Do I have any recourse?
I work in California, but my employer's headquarters are in a different state. Does this affect the situation?

they generally can do that unless you have a contract.
