Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Job application,is Deferstion a NO answer?

I have a job application which asks,"Have you ever been convicted of. received a deferred sentence, or pleaded guilty or no contest to (A) a felony offense? In 1995 I was given Diversion which I successfully completed. My signed court papers do state that,"at the end of the period of diversion, criminal charges in this matter shall be dismissed, and I may indicate in response to any question concerning my prior criminal record that I have not been arrested or diverted for this offense. I am just very uneasy and uncertain as to how valid that statement truely is. I hope you will be able to tell me one way or another as to the actuality of this. I have had no other crimanal arrest or charges before this or since.
