Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Job Titles - Managers
Is there any labor law that restricts assigning a person a ''managers'' title even if they do not manage any people? Is this more related to being exempt or non exempt?

Re: Job Titles - Managers
Great question. Many companies do exactly that, put the employee on a "salary" leading them to believe they are exempt, and forcing them to work overtime, without getting paid for that. The distinction for what is an exempt employee vs a non exempt is the key here. For further information on this topic, go to my blog at worldpress.com or visit my website at www.californiawagelawyer.com. If you are non exempt, the manager title is irrelevant to right to receive OT pay.
