Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Labor pay raise question

I didn't sign my annual evaluation because I strongly believed I was marked unfairly on two areas. Because I didn't sign, I was told I wouldn't get my annual raise. Which I understand, but my bigger concern is: Can my employer fire me for not signing?

Re: Labor pay raise question

I would pose a question to you: What do you hope to accomplish by not signing.

You gain nothing by not signing. A better approach is to calmly and carefully respond to the review using clear examples as to why the evaluation is wrong and ask that your response be made a part of your file.

In California, most employees are "At Will" - you can be fired for anything, so long as it is not an illegal reason.
