Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Labor Relations and Confidentiality
I have experienced verbal abuse and hostile working environment with a company that I am currently employed by. It is not related to any of the ''legal'' categories for discrimination so I have tried to just deal with it. It has caused a great deal of stress, depression, and as a result, distraction. I tried to go through proper channels by seeking guidance through Labor relations. Unfortunately, it appears that my confidence was violated when I noticed some emails being copied around to HR and my boss. I believe this was a ''blooper'' but nonetheless, they will not return my inquiry related to this. Everything has been downhill since that. Retaliation, etc. What's the real story behind these people and do they really work for the employee or employer. thanks.

Re: Labor Relations and Confidentiality
You have learned the hard way that labor relations (human resources) will not usually bite the hand that feeds them. It sounds like it might be time to start looking for new work elsewhere. Depending on your level of stress, workers compensation might be an option if you've been consulting with mental health professionals.
