Laid off after asking for benefits
I was recently laid off the day after i inquired about receiving my medical benefits. My employer offered full coverage medical benefits to employees after 3 months of employment. After 4 months i inquired and the next day i was laid off for ''lack of work''. They said that i wasn't needed and it was too slow to keep me. It was a huge shock and very confusing since i water plants at a nursery and it is the middle of summer. Is there anything i can do about this? I'v had no write ups or disiplinary actions against me. As far as i knew they were very happy with me.

Obviously, they weren't very happy with you. You need evidence that you were fired for an unlawful reason. You haven't stated that is the case. Employers don't need a reason to terminate because, generally, they can terminate at will. You were only there a short time, so there is not much of a track record to build on. Unless you have evidence of an unlawful reason for being terminated, there is not much you can do.
